ESTABLISH, CREATE AND PROMOTE FAMILY FOCUSED EVENTS
We are a family beach town, and we are reclaiming our reputation as a safe, welcoming place for families to gather, play, and enjoy all that our community has to offer.
Myrtle Beach was built on a foundation of family values, relaxation, and wholesome fun — and that is the legacy we intend to restore. This is a call to action for all of us: let’s come together, take pride in our community, and set the example that Myrtle Beach is a place where families can enjoy the beach and the people.
We are committed to making Myrtle Beach a destination that honors its roots — by honoring families and our Lowcountry heritage, in a way that brings our community and tourism together. By establishing a Lowcountry Heritage Festival and launching a Myrtle Beach Boat Regatta, we can celebrate our traditions, strengthen local pride, and create new opportunities for tourism and economic growth that showcase the best of who we are.
Our Action Plan:
-
Collaborate with local businesses, city leadership and the Chamber of Commerce to establish, create and promote family focused events such as:
-
The annual Low Country Cultural Festival to honor and celebrate the Low Country's unique traditions, food, music, and storytelling of the Gullah Geechee people—the heart of the Lowcountry’s heritage.
-
The annual Myrtle Beach Regatta, bringing residents and visitors together through sailing, racing, and concerts
-
Community events that strengthen our sense of pride and belonging.
