Strengthen Public Safety

Strengthen Public Safety

EVA RIGNEY FOR MAYOR

Crime & Safety

As Mayor I will be committed to stronger law enforcement, more visible patrols, and increased community engagement to ensure that anyone who visits or lives here is treated with respect and is safe from harm. We will focus on upholding public safety, supporting local businesses that prioritize responsible tourism, and creating spaces that encourage healthy, enjoyable, family-focused activities.

Myrtle Beach was built on a foundation of family values, relaxation, and wholesome fun — and that is the legacy we intend to restore. This is a call to action for all of us: let’s come together, take pride in our community, and set the example that Myrtle Beach is a place where families can enjoy the beach safely, without fear of crime or disruption.

We are committed to making Myrtle Beach a destination that honors its roots — where every visitor and resident feels welcome, safe, and able to enjoy the beauty of this special place.

Our Action Plan:

  • Enforce Public Safety with smart, modern strategies and technology; we will not only address crime but will also address the safety of our public spaces and sidewalks.

  • Public Safety First
Safety is not negotiable. I will use advanced technology to fight crime, including two-way video and audio cameras in high-crime and high-traffic areas. These cameras will be monitored by trained personnel so that behaviors escalating toward violence can be de-escalated before harm occurs. South Carolina law allows the public to view public-space cameras, and I will ensure residents know this so they can be partners in prevention. Together, we will make Myrtle Beach safer for families and tourists alike
